Fly Tying with Christina Muller
Our Fly Tyers series continues with Christina Muller. Saturday - Septermber 21, 2024
A passionate fly angler with over two decades of experience, Christina Muller's journey began in North Jersey picking up fly tying at the same time as learning to cast. A graphic artist by trade, Christina was captivated by the creativity of imitative materials to translate what she saw on the water into effective patterns. These days, she packs more fly-tying materials than clothing when embarking on her fishing adventures. After a day on the water, Christina's ideal way to relax is at the vise with a bourbon in hand, recreating the day's observations.
Christina has devoted most of her angling time to the waters of North Jersey, Southern NY, and Eastern and North Central Pennsylvania, with frequent jaunts along the East Coast, Florida, out west, as well as the Ontario and Erie tribs. Influenced by the limestone and spring creek fly tyers of the State College, PA region she primarily ties her own variations, drawing inspiration from the western patterns of Montana and Utah.
A former South Jersey resident, Christina is equally enthusiastic about saltwater fishing. She is also a committed volunteer, actively involved with Casting for Recovery and Project Healing Waters and has plans to participate in The Mayfly Project. Her participation in her TU chapter has included fly-tying demos for the public and leading intermediate tying classes for the chapter members.
Her journey as a fly angler, interwoven with her artistic sensibilities continues to evolve, and earlier this year she created a handmade soap and candle company — translating her observations of nature into a unique sensory experience.
Freshly relocated to Hancock, NY, Christina is excited to begin her exploration of the Golden Circle, and venturing off the beaten path.
CFFCM Saturday Tyers Series is offered in partnership with the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild.
