Fly Tying with Ben DeRosa

Our Fly Tyers series continues with Ben DeRosa. Saturday - Septermber 28, 2024

Ben grew up on Connecticut's Farmington River, but did not discover fly fishing until moving to the Eastern Catskills in 2016 shortly after his 50th birthday. The draw of the Esopus Creek and the chance to watch a local tyer in the general store were the sparks that ignited a passion that has burned out of control ever since.

Ben loves art and working with his hands, so it didn't take long for fly-tying to factor into his enjoyment of the sport. Ben is still recovering from the CFFM's Spring 2024 Bamboo Rod Building Intensive, where he not only built his first bamboo rod but learned of and joined the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild.
