Nominees sought for Fly Fishing Hall of Fame

The Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Hall of Fame is looking for nominations from the public for the Fly Fishing Hall of Fame.

Those who have verbally suggested a nomination to a member of the staff or the committee must do so in writing for the candidate to be considered.

Summerfest returns Aug. 3-4

Summerfest retuns to the Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 3 and 4, bigger and better than ever with a few surprises in store.

Vendors should sign up now for our Angler’s Market, a flea-market feel filled with all kinds of fantastic items about angling, lifestyle, arts, crafts and more. Exhibitor registration for the two-day event is $85 for CFFCM members and $100 for non-members. Upon receipt of the Registration Form and payment, exhibitors will be sent confirmation with space assignment. Be sure to note a location preference – Pavilion, Tent or Open Field – on the form.

Casting Competitions that challenge individual casting skills with the Hardy Bamboo Cup, Hardy/Royal Wulff Graphite Classic, Hardy/Royal Wulff Fiberglass Classic, and the Dette/Wulff Youth Challenge.

There will also be the 50/50 movie about leveling the playing field in fly fishing, and a cookout Saturday after the market closes.

Morgan Rod making class in September

Tom Morgan Rodsmiths will be teaching a week-long bamboo rod building class the week of Sept. 22, with an emphasis on using the Morgan Handmill. Participants will choose one of Tom’s tapers and learn hollow fluting, swelled butts, ferruling techniques, handle shaping, wrapping and go home at the end of the week with a finished rod.

Class limited to 4 people.
