Join Trout Unlimited's Eastern Conservation staff for a fun day in the Catskills where you can enjoy some great time outdoors and on fabled waters while helping drive a powerful community science project forward!
Volunteers are needed for an important project to assess the health of the Beaverkill, Willowemoc and other tributaries in the Upper Delaware watershed. We'll be using the RIVERS app, a TU-developed tool that makes it fast, easy and fun to hit the stream with your smartphone in hand and photo-document areas of habitat degradation such as eroded banks, lack of tree canopy and cover, culverts, dams and other barriers to fish passage and many other impacts.
The day will start with a training and tutorial using the app at the Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum in Livingston Manor, NY at 9 a.m.
After training, volunteers will be assigned sections of river to assess - whether you choose to bring a fishing rod with you while you seek out sites to record is entirely up to you! We fully expect the mayfly hath to be epic that night, so be sure to plan to stick around to fish the evening if you can!
Families and children are welcome, and staff and volunteers will help you everyone learn the tool and get setup on their smartphone.
All participants are asked to follow CDC Guidelines related to COVID-19.
