Len Halladay (1872-1952) and his Adams

Created by Len Halladay in Michigan, and later embraced by fly fishers from the Catskills to California, the iconic Adams is arguably one of the most effective dry flies ever fished on trout streams. In this second installment of a three-part series by Mike Valla, behind the scenes stories that occurred during the time Mike and his wife Valerie traveled to Traverse City, Michigan, birthplace of this iconic trout fly, will be shared. The result was the Len Halladay chapter in Mike’s book The Founding Flies. The evolution of the Adams into many spin-off patterns, its varied styles and morphology will also be discussed
