Class held outside under pavilion
Class description: Spend 2 days making your own beautiful and functional creel while learning the ins and outs of willow weaving with Jes Clark of Willow Vale Farm. Using traditional weaving techniques, we will build the creel from the base up, including a woven lid. We will then add on a comfortable leather strap and a leather and brass buckle for the closure. Creel dimensions will vary, but will be approximately 14" wide. Weaving techniques covered are plain weave, three rod waling, French randing, and 4-behind-1 border. Basket weaving experience is beneficial but not mandatory for this class. Strong hands, however, are a must!
Includes:
All materials & fasteners to make a finished functional creel in 2 days
Lunch (Sat & Sun)
Bio: Jesica Clark is owner and operator of Willow Vale Farm in Stanfordville, NY. In the summer they tend the vegetable market garden and in the winter Jesica weaves homegrown willow into baskets while daydreaming about the vegetable garden. They weave traditional and contemporary functional pieces and the basket forms created are a result of their conversation with each stick of willow. All of their produce and willow is grown without pesticides using regenerative practices and with loving care. Visit Willow Vale Farm website https://www.willowvale.farm/
